About the Episode

For this episode, Elise had the pleasure of chatting with Diane Roussin, the project director of the Winnipeg Boldness Project. The Winnipeg Boldness Project, in the words of Diane, is all about making things better for babies. That is, looking into the health and wellness outcomes of children and families in the North Point Douglas neighbourhood and, with a strong community driven model, prototyping solutions to improve the health and wellness initiatives within the community.

In particular, Diane shared the story of prototype number two, Baby Basket: Supporting New Parents. Touching first on the theory of change of the Winnipeg Boldness Project, then demonstrating how each prototype is grounded in the values of the theory of change through the example of the baby basket prototype. The Winnipeg Boldness Project’s methodology comes from an Indigenous perspective/approach and a social innovation lab approach. Diane chats about how this methodology influences the positive level of impact their prototypes have on the community.
