It all started when…
We introduced of two our network to each other, and one of them made a joke about meeting for coffee getting expensive. We thought, why not have ABSI pay?
Let’s treat you to coffee!
When you meet another Albertan over coffee to explore new ways of targeting wicked problems, talk social innovation, change making or social finance in general or to plot ways to make the province a better place in specific, the first coffee (or other nonalcoholic beverage) is on us!
Who can I meet with?
Any Alberta based change makers looking to meet others to make a difference in innovative ways, especially if they have met the person they are networking with via an event, project or connection from ABSI or one of the other ecosystem builders in the province.
We’ll pay for the first coffee for any pair who haven’t met before. We’ll keep track of who you’ve met with to help make sure we’re paying for one coffee per pair. Email us if there’s more than two of you meeting for coffee, we can talk about options for a bigger meeting.
What does ABSI get out of this?
We get to know what conversations we’re sparking across the ecosystem! When you submit your form, we get to see how many people - from where - are connecting. We’ll also ask a couple short questions about what topic you discussed, so we can keep track of trends. We’ll share the anonymized trends and connections back to the network on this page.
One of the strengths of a network is how people can meet and connect from a variety of pathways. We know many of you connect outside of ABSI events, and this gives us a way to track and animate the broader network!
What do you mean by “beta test”?
This program is in a prototype stage. By participating, you’re helping us see whether and how this program will work for our network. It also means there’s some bugs that we still have to work out! If you notice any of those or have any feedback, please email us.
What if I’m meeting someone virtually, or could use the coffee paid in advance?
We still want you to feel treated! Fill out the form, and instead of uploading a receipt/amount tell us what coffee shop we can buy you and your guest e-gift cards from. You can use it to bring your treat to your meeting. You and your guest can also buy your coffee to bring to your online meeting, and upload your receipts separately for reimbursement.
How do I get you to pay for my coffee?
Fill out this form, and upload a photo of your receipt. To get an advance coffee card, fill out this form. If we’re sending coffee cards to two different spots, please use a comma to separate the email addresses. We will e-transfer you your reimbursement OR your coffee cards.
