Join us at the creative edge of innovation and expect the unexpected!
We’ve been missing the times that let us jump into conversation with our peers and like minded citizens: coffee breaks, elevator chats, theatre lobbies, chatting after meetings in the parking lot - there’s something really awesome about meeting without a set agenda that lets you, as a participant, drive where you’d like the conversation to go.
Why are we gathering?
There’s a lot that’s happened in Alberta this year. The state of the economy, Covid-19, the future of education, healthcare, and equity all feel fragile and at risk. It feels like the world is on fire - or about to be. These issues can feel very negative and political, but these are policy issues, and policy sits above politics.
This event will help you find others who feel the same way and start conversations, that we hope will spark unexpected innovation, change and action. We were inspired by the idea of salons: a gathering place for people from all walks of life who want to talk, organize, and share ideas. With roots in medieval Islam, the French enlightenment and queer art circles, salons are traditionally women-led spaces that cross class and gender barriers for people to enjoy learning from each other.
